For those of you who are interested racing in northeast Wisconsin from the 1950s and 1960s, you will want to check out the Stock Car Exhibit at the Seymour Museum in Seymour. The exhibit runs through July 28. Unfortunately I just found out about it so I apologize for the late notice.

I made the trip there today, and it was well worth the trip. The display, dubbed, “Those Were The Days” features 160 model cars made to replicate actual race cars that raced in the area in the 1960s and 1950s. Not only are the model cars on display, but they are arranged in a way that depicts a night of racing at Outagamie Speedway. You’ll know what I mean when you see it.

Ron Hassemer created the models to honor the local racers, as well has his dad Harvey Hassemer.

The there is also a photo display set up, as well as a slide show.

If you can, it is best to view it with someone who raced during that time as they won’t be able to stop from pointing out whose car each is and stories from that time.

I don’t want to ruin it for those of you who plan on making the trip, but here are a few photos of what you can expect.

Don’t forget, the exhibit ends July 28. The museum is open from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.
